Learn How You Can Contribute to Pet Microbiome Research!

Pet parents

Enroll your pets in research studies! By doing so, you and your pet will help contribute valuable insights into animal health and well-being. There are several research studies that are actively recruiting pets including the Huttenhower Lab’s feline obesity study, several Morris Animal Foundation research studies, Darwin’s Ark (which studies pet health through genetics and behavior), and several clinical trials posted to the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Veterinary Clinical Trials Registry. Also, don’t forget that your veterinarian is a great resource for learning about ways to improve your pet’s health!

If you’re interested in getting involved with the OHMR’s companion animal microbiome projects, or if you’re conducting your own microbiome study and would like to connect, reach out to us at ohmr@googlegroups.com! We are looking forward to new collaborations that support the One Health concept. If you’re conducting your own project(s) and are seeking study resources, we can provide guidance for sample collection materials, protocols, and support for microbiome community analyses.
